For the 2025-26 year, the DB Wine Club is exploring the holistic farming philosophy called biodynamics. While in the practical sense, biodynamics aligns with organic farming (no application of chemically-derived substances), there is a lot more to the thinking behind biodynamics as a system.

Biodynamic farmers follow lunar rhythms, especially the cycle of the moon through the zodiac signs. Each of the 12 constellations of the zodiac is associated with one of the four elements, which are in turn interpreted as specific parts of the plant: water/leaf, air/flower, fire/fruit, earth/root. While the moon passes through the signs every 27.3 days, the sun takes a year to complete the same cycle. Our biodynamic year will involve a pair of biodynamic wines paired with each of the zodiac signs.
